Stratford & York brushes are handmade in England but trace their history to southern Germany in 1878. During the 1930's the company moved to Team Valley on the south bank of the River Tyne. Often duplicated but never quite equalled, the skills of their brush makers and the creativity of their brush designers has made them the largest brush company in Europe making an impressive 15 million brushes a year!
The ‘handmakers’ at Stratford & York are responsible for hand-making every single brush produced. Many of these craftsmen/women are second or third generation and every year some many new applicants train to join the group with only two or three making the grade to continue this tradition of superb English craftsmanship. Due to this artists have been relying on these quality watercolour brushes for many years to produce superb results. Stratford & York watercolour brushes have been used by great masters of the past and now some of the world's most acclaimed professionals of today.
Stratford & York Jet Series watercolour brushes are unique and combine the purest Blue Squirrel hair with special synthetic filaments.
