Bockingford paper is one of the worlds most popular watercolour papers - not surprising considering it offers superb quality at a great price. This high quality fine art paper is made at St Cuthbert’s Mill, near Wells, Somerset using a cylinder mould and the purest cellulose fibre. It is acid-free, internally sized with a neutral pH to give an archival standard paper and buffered with calcium carbonate to protect from atmospheric contamination, highly light fast and colour stable.
Bockingford paper is used by both professionals and amateur artists for the papers excellent paint removal properties and because it has quite a hard surface it resists scrubbing, scraping and also takes masking fluid well.
The Bockingford Extra Rough surface has been developed in response to artists demand for an alternative to the CP/Not surface in the Bockingford range. Like the rest of the Bockingford Watercolour Paper range the Extra Rough is mould made from the purest cellulose fibre. It has an extremely forgiving paint surface allowing frequent changes to work e.g. lifting, scrubbing and masking fluid.
Bockingford fine art paper is available in a range of weights with the most popular weight being 300gm² (140lb) it is also available in 5 tints (cream, grey, eggshell, blue and oatmeal). Bockingford watercolour paper is ideal for beginners as it shares many of the important qualities of a top quality rag sheet but at a lower cost.
